The pleasure and satisfaction I gained from watching us give Villa a damn good slapping in that second half cannot be overstated. And I'm sure I'm not alone.
Their fans were so damn insufferable after that squeaked that lucky last-minute run against us. Especially since we were very light in defense that day. Time for them to get a reality check.
Fair play to them, they are a good team with a good manager. But I don't know how they got up to 3rd place. And I don't think they will sustain that position. I'm expecting Liverpool and Chelsea to overtake then within a couple of months. Villa is overperforming.
The only slight disappointment was that we switched off towards the end and gave them a consolation goal. You could see that coming, and only Raya's heroics (and their striker's inability to hit an open goal from 6 years out) saved it from occurring with that earlier attempt.
But still, excellent result. Ode is back to his best. Big Gabi is back right when we need him the most. Trossard is getting better and better. Zubi showed his abilities further up the field. And Gabi J looked very sharp. Lots to be hopeful for.
