I will never, ever, support hostile actors such as Dessalines, and neither should any of you.

They're supporters of Russia's war, they're transphobes, and they're pro-genocide tankies.

It's built into Lemmy, the software. It was not made by Lemmy.world, they just run it.

You know you can use Piefed or Mbin and see the same content while avoiding using the Lemmy software?

They should remove it immediately, and I've been spending more time on Piefed.world and I've even donated to Piefed development, but since Piefed.world is run by the same people holding up this banner I'll probably move away from there, too.

So they've provided you a solution to your problem, but you don't want to use it to solve your problem, and you're mad at them because you're still using the thing you don't want to use.

Got it.

and you're mad at them because you're still using the thing you don't want to use.

is that genuinely what you think?

most people who disagree with that banner do so because it makes unknowing people to give money to the main devs, who hold a hostile and deceptive agenda.

the banner can be easily disabled with a short custom stylesheet. Implementing that shouldn't be a big burden for small instances, even less so for lemmy.world

I mean if you're running a lemmy instance and you don't think the developers should receive any donations at all, that suggests you think the software you're running should essentially be discontinued due to a total removal of funding. It seems to me absurd to run a lemmy instance and hold an absolutist position that the devs of said software should never be supported.

At that point, Lemmy instance owners should just convert to a Piefed or Mbin instance if they were to feel that strongly.

And users should all just move similarly.

some are trying to do that, but afaik it's complicated to do that without data loss.

So you tolerate the intolerant? You support the supporters of violence, xenophobia, and corruption? To me that appears as insanity, I will speak ill of you forever more.

Can you move all of your data over to piefed?

[โ€“] Dave@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 week ago

You can't take your posts and comments, you can't even do that migrating from one Lemmy instance to another.

According to this post, you can migrate your account settings (including subscribed communities) from Lemmy to Piefed.

Hate to be that dude, but it's a yearly reminder and development is much easier if the devs get paid. You might have your disagreements with the devs, but they still play a crucial role in its development.

[โ€“] finitebanjo@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago

They should NEVER get paid, because they will use that money to HARM YOU. They should be treated as what they are: enemy combatants.
