"I grew up where food comes from the store" starterpack
funny thing the sea sherperds founder left peta, because they wernt aggressive enough with thier eco-activisim, im guessing they are getting there.
Fun fact, PETA kills upwards of 90% of the animals they claim to rescue.
Their director makes $147k salary, Sr VP makes $142k, VP makes $126k, and the Pres makes $36,999.
That is notably a lot less than, for example, ASPCA's executives who make hundreds of thousands up to $1,203,267 made by Matt Berdshadker in 2023, but on the other hand ASPCA has strict rules against Euthanasia except for circumstances that make the animal aggressive, suffering, of completely unadoptable.
You likely fell victim to propaganda from the animal imdustry:
The ASPCA typically has a lower euthanasia rate than PETA because it often employs more selective admission policies, focusing on adopting out animals rather than accepting all animals regardless of their condition. In contrast, PETA operates as an open-admission shelter, which means it takes in all animals, leading to higher euthanasia rates due to the number of unadoptable or severely ill animals it receives.
Doesn't the aspca also spend more on advertising than helping animals? I remember them also having a suspicously high CEO pay.
"Focusing on adopting out animals" which results in >90% fatality? I would laugh but that's just not funny. The reason PETAs kill count is so high is because they fundamentally don't believe in livestock or owning pets, they see killing dogs, cats, and horses as a mercy.
Hitting a disingenuous reply guy with a lazy zinger: Based
Hitting a disingenuous reply guy with a lazy zinger when your an animal rights org: Cringe, loathsome, objectionable
The world is just one tandoori soya chaap away from turning vegetarian forever. Remember that.
I, for one, think it's great that PETA is branching out and disappointing somebody else's parents for a change.
Besides taking themselves too seriously, they also give vegetarianism and the concept of animal welfare a bad name.
PETA euthanizes thousands of animals per year according to Google.
PETA euthanized 2,471 animals in 2023 and 2,213 in 2024 at its Virginia shelter, according to reports filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS).
PETA operates a kill shelter of last resort in Virginia, where they take in dogs who were next up to be euthanized at other kill shelters to make one more last ditch effort at addressing their issues and finding them homes. This is a service that would not exist if not for PETA, but since they're a last resort their success numbers are very low, like less than 40%. That amounts to hundreds of animals saved every year, but that hasn't stopped animal ag from taking the euthanasia totals out of context for years.
There's lots of information about the Norfolk shelter online for those willing to fact check.
"Name one cow you're friends with" is such as asshole response to an industry that sometimes treats animals worse than Nazi concentration camps.
I don’t think this is real, mostly because I don’t think PETA has a sense of humor. I don’t think they’re capable of funny.
I would more expect PETA to unironically tell someone off for calling a person a type of animal as an insult.
I stopped eating almost any beef after discovering the cute cow gifs subreddit. They can be so puppy like! They're also huge methane machines and having fewer cows would be good for the environment.
On the other hand, I crave a good pot roast maybe once a year.
Edit: and I can name my mother's favorite childhood cow and the cow my grandpa let me name because we shared a birthday.
Seems to be a false dilemma. They ignore the idea that you can eat your friends.
"I want to cook with you"
"No, I meant as an ingredient. Sorry, English isn't my first language"
"you look ravishing"
"why thank you"
"no i want to cook you and eat you. baste yourself with this for the next 30 minutes while i get the oven right"
“Why does your shampoo feel so greasy and… salty? Is that fresh rosemary, oregano, thyme?”
“Yeah it’s my chef’s conditioner, just leave it on it’ll do you real good”
Oh there's fresh rosemary on everyone here we all got bushes of it.
They say my hunger's a problem
They tell me to curb my apetite
This might make your friends feel uncomfortable.
Not for long.
May I introduce you to Rotenburg Cannibal?
I think I should not have explored that rabbit hole. JFC there's some twisted people out there.
PETA can only take the easy and lame options, which is why they went after my mom
I actually have reduced my beef consumption quite a bit. More for my personal health reasons than any other reason though.
Gentle reminder that the intellectual distance between an average human and a cow is smaller than it is between the average human and anyone who isn’t a total fucking idiot.
