Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

Felted... thing (lemmy.today)
submitted 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) by Wren@lemmy.today to c/artshare@lemmy.world

Wet felted wool on a form I cut out of a reusable shopping bag, roughly 10" high x 10" long x 6" wide. Cotton embroidery floss and cheesecloth added for colour and texture, more visible on the other side, but I prefer this side. The dirtier green was dyed with peppermint. I used a mix of corriedale and unlabeled, rougher sheep wool I get in a giant discount bag. At least I think it came from a sheep...

Wet felting is the process of agitating wool with hot water and soap to get it to felt together, like when you accidentally toss a wool knit in the drier and it becomes a new sweater for your ferret, except intentional.

I made this to hold LED branches I use as a makeshift Saturnalia tree.

Io Saturnalia!

Don't lie OP, you ripped that organ right out of some poor felt-based lifeform.

That would have been much easier, physically. And mentally.

It's a slurm gland.

Cool! Reminds me of a fennel bulb.

Deconstructed tennis ball.
Quick, what's a pun name that combines a famous sculptor with a breed of dog?

Herman Wilhelm Bichon FrisΓ©?

There's Caroline Peddle Ball, don't even have to change that one.

My first thought was "moldy abstracted heart" but in a "that looks cool" way.

I'm on a big mold and fungus kick right now. Mold is cool.

Love them. Excellent creature, excellent color, excellent form.

[–] Wren@lemmy.today 5 points 6 days ago

... I should make a creature using the same form. Now I have ideas, thanks~
