Just goes to show how amazing PBS actually is. Most of the people listed on the shirt or in the comments had some kind of an affiliation with PBS. Support your local stations!

I've also heard that he gets approached a lot by weirdos asking odd questions. Specifically, at one talk, during the Q and A portion, getting asked highly technical questions by adults who grew up watching him and expecting him to be able to respond. I wouldn't put too much weight on what randos on the Internet have to say about his character.
We need to hold people like these in high regard as a society not the constant rotation of pop stars. Funny thing is I can't think of any women that belong on this though most of my teachers were women and they had a profound effect on my life. Dr Ruth Westheimer maybe?

I'm not convinced I can articulate it well. He seems, well, fine , but I can't stand him. Never have been able to.
I understand that I have a parasocial relationship with the guy seeing that I've never actually met him and I've been watching his content for well over a decade but the sheer amount of work that he has put into educational content speaks for itself. He and John are also a big part of my journey out of a cult and into acceptance of my queer identity. If anyone deserves praise for helping people learn, it's Hank and John.
That's understandable - I'm sure some of my celebrated creators would rankle a bit for you as well. I just never really could watch any of their content. When I thought it was an interesting subject and watched, I wouldn't make it long.
What did he teach? How to jump on any crocodile? How to annoy every animal? This guy was laughed at in Germany, I still wonder what makes him a hero in the US.
