This is hilarious. This is not the "ah ha! Gotcha!" Moment that some Democrats think it is though. Hopefully this will cut out some of the most extreme of magaist. But most just won't care that these accounts are based over seas, and ultimately nothing significant will come of this.

These are reason and excuses why it doesn't matter.

This is it, huh? This year is just nothing but headlines of crap people already know as we ride the express train to hell?

And there's no way Elon didn't know beforehand. This was just to show everyone that nobody is going to do anything about it.

I don't think people actually knew this, especially the fans it would matter to the most. People have blinders up of confirmation bias that filters out what they hear to pick up just the words that support their pre-existing ideas. Despite this, I hope it can be one realization that penetrates through their defenses and causes them to ask important questions again.

Also I wouldn't put it past Elon to be short-sighted.

Can we name them and rightly shame them?

How many of their followers are fake accounts? I bet it's a lot.

MAGA will probably manipulate themselves into believing the whole world wants to be part of their cult.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a pretty core belief in MAGA that they're they represent the vast majority of people who would have had political power if not for the conspiracy of "powerful people who control everything" (White Nationalist racist dog whistles) who import minorities and rig elections to hold onto power so they can run their child sex rings.

It's easy to make anything conspiratorial when you've got people with those beliefs. "How could the left win at the mid-terms if we know that MAGA is 95% of the country?" "MORE PROOF OF CONSPIRACY!!!"

Anything that disproves the conspiracy is evidence of the conspiracy.

No one should be listening to some random idiots who figured out how to game the algorithms anyways, but surprise.
