The US government believed in Astral Projection for a while there.

What if they still do and that's why there's astral force fields protecting all the military bases

[–] NaturalViber@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's honestly what I believe. Not joking. The CIA I believe it was did a study on this with The Monroe Institute. And the study has become declassified. https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00788R001700270006-0.pdf

The Monroe tapes are easy to find online I listened to some of it, was quite relaxing. Wasn't able to leave my body but tbh I didn't really apply myself to it. Had much more luck with RV but I remain skeptical about that too but it was surprising.

The reason the CIA invested in this topic was that they believed that the Russians where interested in it. This is during the Cold War and Nina Kulgina was kicking around doing her thing.

If you believe that your enemy can AP into your sensitive areas that is an issue and you need to be able to counter it. I haven't heard of the force field before but I remember hearing tales of people who tried to access government facilities via AP being intercepted by people. Supposedly these other people are agents of the US gov who would remain in AP for long times to guard these places.

I also remember hearing a story of people trying to access old historical sites like ancient temples and they also ran into beings that stopped them like guardians. Theory on that was it was the spirits of monk's who had taken a vow to protect these sites.

I don't put much stock in any of it but I do find it entertaining and interesting.

And built in to security measures. Only the newest bases don't have them.

just in case...

[–] Visstix@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago (3 children)

People claim to do that? They must be in some weird social circles.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They do - and most of the time it's just lucid dreaming combined with reading factual things about places so you can imagine them.

[–] Visstix@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You can't just call imagining "astral projection"

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You can if you believe in yourself and your bullshit hard enough!

[–] Harvey656@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Or if you want to grift people!

Yes I can. Provably.

The CIA in fact claimed to do it too

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Do you meet a lot of people who claim to be able to astrally project? I don't recall ever hearing someone claim that they can outside of a fictional setting.

I used to know a girl who claimed to Astral project through time. She had a messiah complex and it caused her a lot of stress. I hope she got help.

[–] Idreamofcheesy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I imagine you'd have to spend more time on Tumblr. I've also never met anyone who claims to be an otherkin, but it's just the circles we surround ourselves with.

I've met a few.

A person who was also level 2 Reikki (?) healer claimed to both astral project and being able to "summon" memories of earlier reincarnations. She seemed totally normal unless you asked about spritiuality or something adjacent. She did believe homeopathy was humbug but that chiropractors could cure depression. We was friends for long time until we drifted apart due to moving towns

You're welcome.

Cool, Cool, Cool...
Now about those goats, though... what's the deal with them?

I dunno. I just bought this thing on amazon that projects stars on my ceiling.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

I'd rather hear about astral projection than this "leave the matrix" crap that's going around. There are a lot of delusional folks out there.

[–] greenbit@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Astral projection is basically imagination which is known as true in creating things in various philosophies. Imagine what would it be in a forbidden place and done, it exists, on some level.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago

We know the place exists, just saying that you can't send your fucking consciousness there
