From reviews I'm seeing that lots of content is AI/AI made and it's full of microtransactions. 100% a gatcha game.

Some NPCs in the game are AI-powered chatbots that some have called "horrifying."

yeah no thanks.

now make a political game set in China during the last 100 years you cowards.

You know what? I'm ok with that. At a certain point in an RPG, I do not really give a shit if the dialog for Generic Quest Giving NPC #41 has soul behind it or not. Is anyone out there really searching for deep, meaningful writing several hours into a game, or are they just clicking through dialog until they figure out how many buzzard asses they need to gather to complete the quest?

Actually I don’t want a Generic Quest Giving NPC #41, either. I want meaningful content with intent, no bloat.

It's not dialogue for quests (although they probably were generated with AI), it's stationary NPCs irrelevant to the quests that are in the world. Not all NPCs have an AI bot. You can 'befriend' the bots by giving them the right keywords and they'll hardly budge otherwise.

Example and... minor spoilers?: Lie Buxie told me her brothers went to some ruins. I cleared it out and helped the brothers. I glazed over what they said and returned to Lie (who was unrelated to the quest, you clear it by solving a puzzle and clearing a tomb/mini-dungeon then the brothers fuck off). I then had to convince her that her brothers have left by relaying the information I got from the quest. Which was hard because I was glazing over the brothers' dialogue; Boring quest.

AI bots are like a pop-quiz related to the nearby environment or game information, then they send you gifts after they become your friends and you can chat with them whenever with shit retention. They're really stubborn and don't like to RP, but they'll respond positively if you show them 4K phone footage etc so at least that's funny.

It's big dookie and feels like a way to incorporate a.. 'more natural 🤢 🤮 ' feed of lore. If it wasn't hallucinating it. It didn't really add anything positive to my experience other than a laugh and I remember thinking I'd rather have a boring text dialogue to spam through.

Seems to be free to play. I wonder how predatory the microtransactions are and if it has any invasive anti-cheat

[–] Canadian_Cabinet@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago

Steam reviews suggest that purchases and battle pass (yuck!) are cosmetic only. Most complaints are about how you can't change audio settings until after a 20 minute tutorial

Micro transactions and pay to win: Not very much of but still there. (Who knows what it’ll look like down the line though)

As for the anticheat I saw people mentioning ACE, which, from what I saw, people really didn’t want.

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

other commenter said cosmetic only hmmm

pay to win is 100% a pass if true tho

Who cares if people want to p2win a single player game? Let them. It's pays for the rest of us so we don't have to.

ITT: Lots of people commenting about mt and p2win or whatever. Isn't it a single player / consensual co-op game? Who gives a shit what other people want to spend their money on? The hill people choose to die on sometimes....

Consensual Game

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means...

Well then, I suppose it's a good thing I never said that phrase.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

OP, what does consensual game mean to you?

I'm OP and I never actually said "consensual game." I said "consensual co-op" as in, you have to choose to play co-op as opposed to playing single player.

2 top critical reviews I saw have bot spam against them, but not other comments do? I feel the fame have a bot review issue so be warned. Also reading its a massive time crunch and gacha game so pass for me.

Yep works great.

No, it's an always online single player MMO. Weird, but yeah.

[–] luciole@beehaw.org 3 points 2 days ago

Nope. Even if you can play solo, it requires an Internet connection at all times. Keep in mind this is free-to-play with microtransactions.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 days ago

Downloading it to my PS5 now. Can't beat free. Worst case, I just delete it.
