Advocating for your kids now illegal in England

Allen had reportedly communicated to the school in May 2024 regarding the recruitment of a new headteacher but his queries were rejected.

The school’s governors then wrote to the parent body about “inflammatory and defamatory” comments on social media, warning that the school would take action against anyone who caused “disharmony”.

The Times said Allen and Levine communicated disbelief about the warnings on a private WhatsApp group, with the school subsequently banning them from entering its premises. After their ban, the pair said they emailed the school “regularly” about the needs of their daughter, who is disabled.

I've encountered these sorts of parents before and can tell you they are a fucking nightmare to deal with.

Every indication was they weren't just advocating for their kids. They were bombarding the school with repeated and vexatious complaints and encouraging others to do the same.

If the repeated contact had gotten to the point that the school felt they needed to report it to the police then thats typically a sign that it was bad. Can 100% guarantee the school would have sought legal advice first.

I don’t doubt it (the ages of the parents are a pretty reliable sign) but I would expect to have more of a paper trail before police are involved - which would serve to justify the arrest. But it wasn’t there.

Completely agree. Sounds like the police totally bungled it
