An olight clipped to a beanie is the best headlamp I've ever used
I used to do something similar when I was in maritime electronics servicing. It often involved dark and cramp spaces, and after bumping the headlamp in the bulkhead too many times I started wearing it around my neck instead. The light survived longer, and those few extra cm could be occupied by my head instead.
I like the Petzl e+Lite Headlamp. It is technically a headlamp but small and can be clipped onto items.
For running or hiking at night, it's really nice to have light not coming from your head. When a light source is next to your eyes, you never see any shadows, which obscures some obstacles. Some people wear lights on a backpack strap or a waist band to get around this.
Kogalla Ra is a big name for that type of light. Also the Flipbelt light is popular.
This mounting plate could easily be used to work the same way those products are.
