Accidentally melted the bottom of one wing when soldering the prongs on, so cut it out of the other side as well and used a stone I don't like as much so I can make a perfect one with the stone I like!

Nice! Controlling the heat is definitely a skill. I know I unintentionally reticulated a few pieces!Hope I catch your final version!

I used thinner than usual sheet for this one (26 gauge) and didn't even think about the possibility of melting it hahaha. It's something I watched out for on bezels but it somehow didn't occur to me I could melt my piece

Oh I remember your previous post! Really cool to see the progress, thanks for posting!

Did you put your preferred stone with the uncut butterfly previously? Because you’re right that’s a really pretty stone! Haha

This one is also really pretty of course but in a different way.

This looks like such a satisfying hobby, thanks for sharing.

Yep, that one's my favorite! I got a bunch of them at a rock and gem show and they're definitely all really pretty

I could post more of what I make but I usually do one or two things a week and I'd hate to flood the community

How did you decide to go with this layout?

I traced the profile of the stone into my notebook and tried different wing shapes, based on pictures of butterflies I was looking at. Once I had a shape I liked, I drew it again on an index card and drew the holes in, more based on what I felt looked good than what butterflies actually looked like. The long skinny holes kinda highlight the stone I think
