That was quick.
What's sad is that it just sounds like typical small retail cash business practice to me: Everyone does that kind of thing: Paying employees cash under the table, stretching the definition of "business related meals"
Willie Brown was right: "The 'e' in email stands for 'evidence'" and I'm guessing a lot of young people are naive enough to document illegal activity on their phones and online.
The story about the condition and finance of her pet store aren't fair.
She had the bad luck to buy the store in 2019, and most businesses were struggling during the Pandemic and for years after.
Both Alcaraz and the new owner both said they have to subsidize the store with part time jobs.
The rodents and dead animals in the freezer... it's harder than you imagine running a small retail business by yourself.
Edit: And doubly so if you're also working a part time job. Running a retail store is a 60 hour a week job.
