Here's a link to a post where I suggested that this possible could start in 2026 due to the financial collapse —> https://lemmy.world/post/38553133

The conspiracy theories are still just that

The real issue has been the same since the 80s

The ultra rich are getting richer and that makes everyone else poorer.

Once they have accumulated enough wealth to price normal people out of being able to buy anything, society will be forced to reconfigure to serve only the ultra wealthy.

Then we're all in slums with relatively few options to ever fix the situation.

We need to tax the billionaires out of existence before their simple existence breaks everything.

Everything else is a distraction.

Well, you said everything briefly and to the point.

There's plenty bad actually happening, no need to make up stories

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Conspiracy theories aren't necessarily fictional.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 3 points 2 weeks ago

Conspiracy theories are almost by definition fictional, otherwise it would be investigative reporting.

[–] ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Um, how about real conspiracies? No need to make something up. A few examples:

  1. Trump colluding with billionaires to take over the USA.
  2. Tech companies' proxy mass surveillance for the NSA.
  3. Billionaires keeping the USA from having infrastructure other countries have had for decades or even centuries.
  4. The erosion of private property due to market incentives.

Real conspiracies are seldom bombastic or spectacular.

Yes, the US government seems to be trying to make a fascist takeover. Treating the citizens like slaves of the government heads is basically what every ultra-authoritarian government does.

This has happened before in many places all over the world, it will unfortunately keep happening, but we got through a period where its frequency was reduced. It would be good not to go back into it being common, and the 9point6's comment is right on the spot on how to avoid it.

Anyway, nothing is settled, and the US's future is looking brighter than 2 weeks ago.

You still haven't played Deus Ex. Maybe read some Asimov.

"Collapse" of man-made systems may be... difficult, let's say, but is ultimately survivable.

Collapse of the global climate system though, that's something else entirely. Nature can't be bribed the way humans always can.

It sounds like you're spending too much time in libertarian spaces

The plan is almost complete. Will the military cooperate? They are working on it..

bruh peasant would be a fuckin upgrade compared to now, imagen owning land, growing food, breathing air that isnt full of car vapors

[–] SugarCatDestroyer@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, it seems we will live worse than the peasants in the Middle Ages in every sense.

[–] DoubleDongle@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Peasants had lots of holidays and probably ate higher-quality food than us most of the time.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

well sign me the fuck up. I'll happily give up all my freedom and put on an enslavement collar for some good food and some holidays!
