Mabuhay at maligayang pagdating sa Lemmy! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

A fediverse community for the Philippines and all things Filipino!

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

Last Saturday in Northern Mindanao it was nonstop rain since Friday night. Today we have barely any rain at all and the occasional clear skies, but it's not surprising since the trajectory of the supertyphoon eventually goes North. I'm worried about everyone else up there though

More damage up north. Mostly lost their homes. No cellular communications in some areas.

Next week shall be more interesting as the parliament of the streets would eventually come out.

In central Luzon here, the power was first knocked out as winds and rain accelerated, but it wasn't that strong since I was at a low risk area. Anyways, sporadic rain continued and occasional strong winds blow.

I'm in Metro Manila. The winds are strong but tolerable. Rain isn't that heavy or frequent too. It's a little sunny at times today compared to yesterday afternoon. All in all it's not that bad. We were able to attend a birthday party yesterday and accept deliveries today.

The worst weather disturbance this year that I've personally experienced was that 1hr rain in September that dumped 5hrs worth of rain that affected our city exclusively. First time our house got flooded ever, not even during Ondoy.
