The Dutch word for seal is ‘seadog’ and I think that describes them perfectly

Caniformia is a suborder within the order Carnivora consisting of "dog-like" carnivorans. They include dogs (wolves, foxes, etc.), bears, raccoons, and mustelids. The Pinnipedia (seals, walruses and sea lions) also belong to this group.

Pinnipeds' closest living relatives are musteloids (weasels, raccoons, skunks and red pandas), having diverged about 50 million years ago.

I think that is a nerpa, a seal from freshwater Lake Baykal, considered as sacred by the indigenous Siberian cultures.

Bless the Nerpa and His water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people.

I understand seeing him as sacred he's adorable
