Earlier this year, retro gaming YouTuber Christian "Peri Fractic" Simpson purchased the Commodore brand from a Dutch company, relaunching it with help from many former Commodore employees.

The revived brand is launching the Commodore 64 Ultimate, a new version of the iconic home computer based on Gideon Zweijtzer's Ultimate 64 Elite-II board.

Not worth a fight. Just call the damn thing C64, with the 'C' standing for 'Computer', naturally. We all know what it is.

I also thought buying the name for so much money (over a million, and Peri refinanced his house to afford it) just wasn't worth it.

But with so much invested now, they're likely to fight it out in court to the end. Apparently the Italian company's ownership of the name is dubious, but it will still be costly to fight.

It's not just the names but all the patents/trademarks as well. So whatever C Industries tries to accomplish here is just ridiculous and will most certainly fail.

What are they trying to build more precisely?

Like a classic/upgraded C64, a modern PC, a gaming console? All seem to be financially complicated to say the least...

I can sell them my old Commodore calculator if they want to revive that one 😁
