Edit: What the fuck am I actually listening to? I was listening to this on ICP's YouTube page by selecting the album. I just looked online for more information and the track listing is not the same. What the fuck am I actually listening to?
Edit again: Apparently this is Smothered, Covered, and Chunked. ICP's official YouTube channel has this album set for this album and The Mighty Death Pop. What the fuck?
I originally stopped following new music by ICP after The Tempest. I got much more into the other artists like Twiztid, ABK, AMB, etc. so I didn't listen to any of the second deck at the time. I've recently been trying to go back and catch up on the stuff I missed.
The first time I listened to the mighty death pop, I turned it off after maybe 3 or 4 songs. I hear a lot of people talk about this being a great album, so I'm trying to give it another chance. Listening farther in is just kind of affirming that I don't like this album.
The lore of the card is almost non-existent. This album seems to focus a lot on doing parodies of existing songs. That's the best way I can describe what it seems like to me. They are making Psychopathic versions of old songs. I love Weird Al, but this isn't what I'm looking for with ICP. I'll finish listening to the whole thing for fairness and it's not every track that is a parody, but this isn't it for me.
So I guess the discussion is for those that love this album, what makes it special to you?
