well duh.

you pay more for less shitty food. I don't know how it is in the US but here in Canada it's like $20 for a double quarter pounder with cheese meal (for example) why would I pay that when I could go across the road to a burger king (again as an example) and pay $16 for a roadhouse king meal? sure it's still shitty food but it's less shitty and cheaper. The ONLY thing McDonalds has going for it is for whatever reason their coffee is still cheaper than tim hortons or anywhere else. so the coffee is cheap but everything else is more expensive. I don't get it.

Unless you're getting the value meal deals where you can get sandwiches for like a buck or 2, fast food is so insanely expensive, I don't understand how they still have regular customers.

Earlier this year I went to a Potbelly's to get a sandwich and soup, was really in the mood for broccoli cheddar, I know thats one of their staple soups and not many other places around me regularly have that as the soup of the day or whatever, so I went to Potbelly's.

Now admittedly I did buy the larger version of the sandwich and got a bowl of soup, but that, plus a drink ended up being like $33 after tax and a few bucks for tip. The large sandwich is usually enough to stretch it to 1.5-2 meals, eat half eat the other half later.

There's a brewery/bar by my house that has a really good Cuban sandwich and its HUGE, again the size that you can easily stretch to 2 meals. I did the math on that plus upcharging for soup instead of fries and a drink, tax and tip, and it would have been a dollar or 2 cheaper to get a real meal, cooked by a real cook, served to me by a server in a sitdown restaurant than to get the fastfood toaster meal I had just ordered at Potbelly's, just crazy.

So yeah, I'm not going to any chains or fastfood any time soon when i can get better cooked food for same price or cheaper at local joints, and support local businesses while I'm at it.

Yeah potbellies is expensive, but they do seem to be above average sandwich quality.

But you're tipping at a fast food restaurant?

A few bucks here and there. Those employees get paid like shit, its me empathizing with the worker handing me my food. Which is crazy the employees get paid like shit, but the food is still expensive...

McDonald's shit food is more expensive than actual restaurant prepared food. I hope they go under. Greedy bastards with their gross food...
