General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Bloody young people, standing in the way of millionaires becoming billionaires.

It's certainly drawing the battle lines for the election, particularly with the Greens being the most popular party for voters under 50.

It's not the extra-rich that should have their wealth taxed, no no no, look down at those lazy Gen XYZeds. Filthy communists shouldn't get a dime of British money.

Reform: The party for those who like to pull up the ladder they just climbed.

Except if young people get considerably cheaper then firms will switch older minimum wage staff to younger ones where they can. I also doubt he'll be capping this at 18, more like 21 when it shakes out.

Older minimum wage people who think this won't impact them and still plan on voting for Farage are deluding themselves as they are the actual target of this policy.

anakin: minimum wage should be cut for young people
padme: and give them universal basic income right?

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 20 points 2 weeks ago

"If we give them universal basic income, then everyone will want some."

"That's... why it's called 'universal'."

Taking bets on whether or not he even realises that it's already lower for young people, as the article points out

Bold position to take when 16 year olds are supposedly going to get the vote

Picking on kids.

Swell policy for those who are under eighteen, who are forced to escape abusive homes.

Nice one, Nigel.

Young people should gut Nigel Farage.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 2 weeks ago

Hey Farage promises he will never stop exploring more ways to exploit more people more.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Congratulations on Farage for volunteering to legally change his age to permanently 18 and give himself minimum wage.
