It's because when you were 19 you promised yourself you'd have your shit together at 30, but you've acquired 10x more shit that ain't together, and the original shit is farther from together.

For me: My parents had me at 20, so my reference for when certain milestones are supposed to occur was highly skewed. Now being in my late 20s I see many people my age who're where I was a few years ago and I realize I pushed myself far harder than I should have, which is likely a major contributor to the burnout.

Y'all are thinking in context of the world we created for ourselves.

It's because humans had a natural lifespan of 35 years or so. We got puberty and it's time to start having kids, build our tribe, and get our offspring going on their own lives.

You hit early/mid twenties and you're in your biological prime with no offspring, and now all the goals having a society has piled on, and you're way behind and you hurdle along to late twenties and the end of your time.
