Lander also supported Mamdani in the primary by cross-endorsing with him. He was also arrested while trying to protect someone in immigration court. He doesn't seem like the kind of person to demand a position, but rather like he's committed to helping his constituents and making the place he lives better.
That doesn't sound like what's being said. More like "if Mamdani doesn't need me, then I'm going to run for this office instead"
