In short:

The Queensland government has signed an agreement to meet with the state's 17 First Nations councils once a year.

Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council Mayor Alf Lacey said the accord would give Indigenous mayors a "seat at the table".

The government has denied the agreement is akin to the failed federal Voice to Parliament.
