Video from GamersNexus on the importance of self-hosting, with some nice references like Rustdesk, Tailscale and Cory Doctorow

But I didn't understand, when they were showcasing a rack computer starting at around 20:20, who Wendell (the guy with glasses) meant with they who made that computer. What platform is that, what's its name?

In Wendells own video he's mentioning 45drives, a custom server manufacturer.

Nice, but I quite didn't understand the utility of this video

On the one hand they were talking selfhosting and then they pull out multiple $10s thousands rack servers. People don't need a data centre at home to sync some files, pictures, email and play some media!

Out of touch

Wendell and Serve The Home in general have totally lost the "home" focus. Sure, I love reading about cutting edge 800GbE transceivers... but they hardly ever cover actually practical home stuff anymore. Their network switch reviews are the only thing vaguely applicable left.

No GN video with Wendell is worth watching. There is nothing in it except Wendell's three poses he takes in every video.

GN should do what they usually do, not this.

It is a 45 Drives Stornado F1. A similar used chassis would be a Dell R730xd
