Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"activists" my ass. They're regressives. Plague rats.

Nurgle Cultist is the right word.

47th in public education, thinks it should set policy at a national level.

Yeah, that tracks.

Some people just don't know when to stay quiet

Sooner or later this problem will solve itself. It's just a question of how long it will take and how many people will have to suffer and die needlessly before that happens.

Isn't the issue that a small percentage of people who get vaccinated are not protected (or the vaccine doesn't take effect), AND there is a small population that cannot get vaccinated due to compromised immune systems or other health issues? Then, by maintaining a large pool of susceptible hosts, we just create a "mutating wonderland" for these viruses to evolve further.

It becomes a lot of people's problems after that. They are already obstinate people refusing common sense health practices that could become refugees when their state system collapses.

Oh absolutely, this is everyone's problem. If it only affected the knuckle-draggers that made the decision it wouldn't be an issue. If it only affected them and their unvaccinated kids it would be sad but at least contained. If it was limited to their own community it would be similar to a lot of other egregiously bad policies that make life worse for the people living under them. Instead, what we have is a policy that will radiate harm into the world around it.

All I was pointing out is that vaccines (and masks, and self-quaratining, etc) still help and in the long term, natural selection will favor those who choose vaccination. That may happen slowly over many decades, especially as the current generation of nurgle worshippers gradually age out and die. Or it may happen rapidly due to some particularly nasty strain of something sweeping through the population. You never know when the next pandemic will hit, and if something particularly deadly comes along while these asshats are still adamantly opposed to literally anything that reduces their own risks, we might see that timetable accelerate considerably.

LOL, these guys keep trying to make being a flaming idiot a "societal norm".

They’re winning

It would be ironic if the passage of this law resulted in a flood of (vaccinated) trans people moving to Idaho. As I read the law, it looks like it also bans forcing anyone into conversion therapy....

[–] klammeraffe@lemmy.cafe 3 points 1 month ago

Oh I’m sure they’d fix that loophole fast

These women, crying happy tears over their victory, are mass murderers who, I can only guess, love watching children suffer.

By sheer statistics, their decisions, their actions will cause men, women, and children to suffer and die from preventable illnesses

And you are happy with that.

So as far as I'm concerned, one day you should be strapped up from the highest tree we can find.

Extreme? It sure fucking is, but not even close to what they did to thousands, or who know, over time, maybe even millions of victims.
