Liminal spaces are the subject of an Internet aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. Liminal spaces are commonly places of transition (pertaining to the concept of liminality) or of nostalgic appeal.

There used to be this abandoned barn next to an orchard out in the boonies that my friends and I would drive to and smoke weed next to.

It had great views of the night sky and was especially beautiful in fresh fallen snow.

I don't know why this reminded md of it. My barn always had an ethereal quality to it as well, only ever dimly lit by the headlights of our car.

Probably farm equipment, tractors, harrows, etc.

That would be a barn, for whatever purpose you need on a farm.

Could be for equipment, or temporary grain/product/feed storage, or whatever.

That one is old - note the vertical wooden slats. Since the 70's barns have typically been steel building because they're faster to construct (though many wooden ones are still built, just not as common).

Thank goodness the Amish don't use modern tech to see this photo, they'll walk away with it...
