Teaches them to be watched. Easy.

I didn't ever stop doing anything I wanted to do because my parents searched me room, I just learned to do it covertly.

Once you lose trust in a relationship, it's nearly impossible to get it back.

Parents are supposed to be teaching their kids self-reliance from day one. They should be taught to avoid sky-daddies, real or imagined.
