There are a million reviews for this banger of a tea online, so I'm choosing to keep mine short here. $17.50 for a 200g cake is fantastic. The taste is fantastic. Pure wood. It's beloved for a reason. It's no super complex evolving tea, but it does wood right.

This is a daily drinker if I've ever seen one. It's good to have a lumber slut cake on hand.

So I've tried some loose leaf lapsang suchon, and I really liked it, the smoky wooden flavors really did it for me. Would this lumber slut be a sort of tea that I would like? I generally steep my tea in a metal strainer in the cup. Can I make tea in the way that I'm used to with this sort of cake, or do I have to have special equipment?

I have not had much lapsang, but if you like woody flavors then this is a great tea. I may even recommend camphornought over this one. Camphornought feels better balanced to me while hitting similar notes. You can definitely brew this in a metal strainer, I would just recommend doing a rinse of the leaves first. That just means steeping the leaves in hot water for 10 seconds then tossing that water before doing your main brew.

Edit: also check out my review of pine darts. That is a lapsang smoked puerh!
