I used to think I would be like Spiderman if I had powers/money/genius tech but I changed my mind after seeing this panel.

I also want to turn people into dinosaurs.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Honestly? Cancer is already getting cured, but no one will be able to afford it

But dinosaur people? Have fun refusing them or their families healthcare

Maybe turning people into dinosaurs is the morally superior option

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"We're not refusing you because of payment obligations; we simply do not know enough about dinosaurs to medically help them!"

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

tail lashes in agitation, destroying rows of waiting room furniture

"Please doctor, you have to try!"

Security officer runs into the room, pauses, slowly lowers taser

[–] MyDarkestTimeline01@ani.social 2 points 1 month ago

Good end: raises traq rifle with enough drugs to knock out a herd of elephants.

Bad end: raised a D. Eagle.

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

To be fair, the people who turn into dinosaurs don't have cancer anymore.

[–] railway692@piefed.zip 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's one of those "Would you press the button" questions.

You become cancer-free.

BUT

You turn into a dinosaur.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm pressing that button even if I don't have cancer.

[–] TeamAssimilation@infosec.pub 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Sorry, cancer is a prerequisite for dinosaurification.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

googles cheap airfare to Chernobyl

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Cigarette prices have really gotten nuts these days.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm still doing it. I'll probably get cancer anyways because of bad choices and genetics. At least then I can use my dinosaur powers for good until I get killed by the government.

[–] TeamAssimilation@infosec.pub 1 points 1 month ago

Speaking of nefarious government actions; is it still cannibalism if your DNA is that of a dinosaur now?

Imagine the money from rich people eating dinosaur steaks.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 27 points 1 month ago

Man has to know what he wants

[–] uid0gid0@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Peter Parker doesn't have a leg to stand on in this argument. Dude literally figured out how to synthesize spider silk in large quantities, which is one of the most sought after discoveries in materials science. Then he just uses it to swing around New York City and tie up bad guys. All his money woes would be over with just one licensing deal with Oscorp. His best friend even runs the company so he could stipulate how they use it

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

He is opening up many "spiderman web cleanup" jobs tho.

Spidey in the next panel: "Can the dinosaurs get cancer?"

[–] Endmaker@ani.social 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

But pterodactyl isn't a dinosaur...

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is he turning people into pterodactyls? Just because he is, possibly because of his own machinations, doesn't mean he's turning others into pterodactyls.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Maybe he's lashing out because someone else turned him into a pterosaur when he wanted to be a dinosaur.

[–] certified_expert@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Excuse me, good sir/madam. What?

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Pterodactyl is a pterosaur, not a dinosaur

[–] certified_expert@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

TIL!

Are there other animals in that category?

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

If it has or recently (evolutionarily speaking) had wings, it's a pterosaur; there are several that look close enough to pterodactyls that they get lumped together in media. 'pterosaur' is literally 'winged lizard'

Wish granted.

You are now a chicken.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I mean... He's not killing anyone or hating anyone. He just turns people into dinosaurs. I wouldn't hate being a dinosaur.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't think he's getting consent...

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Uhhh no villain ever gets consent for their plans? So if that's the only base, this is the least villainous villain ever.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I think non-consensually modifying people's bodies (and minds, because who knows how a human mind maps on to a dinosaur brain) is pretty top-shelf villainy. People have body dysmorphia over body shapes human normally have. Toss on leathery skin or scales, and people will be offing themselves if there's no fix.

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Think about the villain from Wonderwoman 1984. He got consent (in the form of wishes) all the way.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

These dinosaurs... cancer free?

[–] Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago

No, yeah.. I get it.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 9 points 1 month ago

I don’t see how these are equal. Also, they’re clearly both a dinosaur and a person.

And I think I’d prefer to be turned into a dinosaur, too.

[–] jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 month ago

That's exactly how dna works. /s

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yes.

This is a comic book about a dude called:

[–] qualia@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Your tag seems to suggest that there aren't genetic predispositions to certain cancers (e.g. BRCA1 for breast cancer). A better criticism might be "that's not how cancer works" since every cancer type is essentially a separate disease. Cheers.

[–] abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

No its more about the dinosaur thing.

[–] workerONE@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

This looks familiar. What comic is it from??

[–] Metostopholes@midwest.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Spider-Man and the X-Men #2 from 2015.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

That whole crossover run was pretty great and not very long either

[–] ook@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 month ago
[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Judging by the state of the world today .... I think it's a better idea to turn people into dinosaurs than in curing cancer

[–] phx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Corporate execs: "is there a way we can speed up the process of turning them into oil after that? After all, dinosaurs don't have human rights because they're not human"

[–] Lydia_K@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Dammit scalies, chill out and leave some DNA re-writing for the rest of the furries.
