“I extended my arms, palms outstretched toward the ICE officers, in a traditional Christian posture of prayer and blessing,” Black told the ACLU of Illinois in a press release published on Monday. “Without any warning, and without any order or request that I and others disperse, I was suddenly fired upon by ICE officers. In rapid fire, I was hit seven times on my arms, face and torso with exploding pellets that contained some kind of chemical agent. It was clear to me that the officers were aiming for my head, which they struck twice.”

The complaint, filed Monday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois (ACLU) and a coalition of journalists, media organizations, clergy, and local residents.

It accuses federal agencies and officials—including President Donald Trump, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and ICE leadership—of using “indiscriminate” and “escalating” force against peaceful demonstrators and members of the press at the Broadview ICE Processing Center, a longtime protest site west of Chicago.

White House Deputy ICE Director Madison Sheahan said, “We’re not a militarized force. We have people doxxing our officers, our threats are at an all-time high.”

Bahaha, not a militarized force, suuuure.

Good, I'm glad your officers are being doxxed, they are encouraging everyone else to dox on their neighbours and are doing so themselves when they don't get their way in the courts. Boo Hoo.

I'll just add....

We can go higher people! Increase that threat level! Why limit yourself to one all-time high? Go higher!

Threat level midnight.

People keep pretending like there's any way this could be resolved without violence are kidding themselves. We're already at the point where they're firing non-lethal rounds into civilians unprovoked. It will not be much longer until they default to lethal ammunition.

Arm yourselves.

Allegedly??? Making that word do some heavy lifting.

There is a submit correction link at the end of the article. I encourage everyone to say:

The charges are alleged. The "getting shot" is fact. Please correct the headline."

"allegedly"? I feel like video exists. Such lazy reporters.

assault would be the allegation; that he was shot in the eye with a pepperball is incontrovertible.

Good. I wish he’d sue the people who shot him. They should be stripped of their jobs at the very least, if not financially responsible. This isn’t going to stop until people are held personally accountable.

black told the ACLU

that's why they shot him, he's black

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

"Why did you shoot the pastor?"
"He, err, came at us with his arms stretched out and we feared for our liv..."
"NO! That will not be believed this time, what else you got?"
"His second name is Black?"
"Well, giggity goo. Black, you say. I think that'll do it. Nice shooting, son. You are doing god's work, or something."

Indiscriminate force? I thought this would be about freedom of religion. Missed opportunity!
