...duh? If you take out the partnership and cohabitation, it's very literally just a legal contract. That may give some peace of mind, I guess? But that wouldn't necessarily correlate to "increased life satisfaction."

Seems reasonable. Marriage is a contract and carries many legal protections. That's why marriage rights are so important.
