Are those fountain pens? I thought they were something else.

I think these are all ballpoint pens.

The top one is a fountain pen, a clone of the Pilot Vanishing Point. They’re clicky like a Bic, sorta, but the mechanism goes a lot farther, is more complicated, and has a little door to keep the ink from drying out.

What's new in the 2024 version?

Love the A1. They stay wet for an impressively long time. I highly recommend the clipless Moon Man. Rarely do I use the clip, and it just gets in the way of my grip. The clipless version is just -chef's kiss-

I agree. I have some of the versions from jinhao and they dry out quicker. Bought another A1 without the clip and loving it thus far. I’m a bit disappointed in the A3 though. Maybe I got a dud, but the mechanism feels stiff and is hard to actuate with one hand. Either something is too tight, or the spring is too weak. Maybe it will run itself in with time.

Are the 0.38mm ones a significant step up from Muji gel pens?

I don’t really have a comparison as I currently don’t own any Muji gel pens, but the Zento is hands down one of the soothest 0.38 writers I ever used.
