Reminder that the game also released on GOG:

And their servers are fine

If you don’t mind not having steam achievements.

[–] cowfodder@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (3 children)

And having to jump through extra hoops to play on your steam deck.

The Heroic launcher works great on Linux, and to my knowledge the Steam Deck. Let's you easily play your GOG, Epic, and Prime games.

And yeah. It’s still extra steps for a worse experience. Just wait a few hours. You already waited 7 years.

But not native support. (There is a linux build of silk song, but heroic will download windows version and run with proton)

But not native support.

Yes with native support. By default too.

And no regional pricing.

But you actually own your games ☝️🤓 Well, you don't, as clearly stated in their EULA, but their disinfo campaign was successful in selling a product worse than Steam in every way, with 0 upsides.

[–] Wrufieotnak@feddit.org 3 points 2 months ago

Well yeah, you will have GOG achievements instead, duh.

Why are people so hyped up about this game ? I tried HN and I, personally, found it pretty bad

personal taste aside, Hollow Knight did everything that a metroidvania should do design-wise, and added enough new things to the formula that basically every single game in the genre that has come out since 2017 has taken some inspiration from it.

People are psyched to play more in that universe, with the characters they grew to like, while also being excited to see what new innovations they bring this time.

Oh I understand. It was that disruptive. Thanks for your answer !

It's fascinating that you're surprised to see people are hyped up about a sequel to a critically acclaimed game.

It would be weird if they weren't, right?

[–] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 months ago

This is the absolute first time I hear about it

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Well, a lot more people enjoyed it so...
