Just had a horrific experience with priceline.

Booked half board for 2 adults and a child through them. My spidery senses tingled so I checked with the hotel and they'd only booked for 2 adults, and only breakfast.

Try as I might I could neither get them to comprehend the issue, or accept fault (preferring to blame the hotel somehow).

Long story short: don't be like NotJohn, don't use priceline - your stress levels will thank you

I’m sorry this happened to you. It seems to be common practice now with these third party sites. They used to be such reliable and good companies. And it’s super frustrating because it’s often the only booking tool available, especially for certain hotels for some reason. They know what they’re doing and they just keep getting away with it. When someone does get something to stick its nothing compared to the immense theft daily that they’re partaking in.

I once booked an overseas flight through booking.com years ago now. I got an email from them telling me it was time to check in to my flight. So I went to the airline’s site. The airline had no record of my ticket. Said booking reserved it but never finalized the ticket so I had nothing with them. Booking refused to fix the problem and refund. I spent months fighting with them. They never made good on it and their own customer service people basically said they’re a scam site now and they pull this crap and never make good on it with people all the time. They have tons of lawsuits against them that go nowhere. Lawyers don’t want to touch it. DONT EVER USE THEM. You’re asking for trouble. I only book directly with airlines now. I use the big sites as a search engine but then book directly with the companies even if it’s a little more cost. It’s worth the peace of mind.

Thanks, I guess I should have listened to my head. I have to admit, I'm a bit value conscious so get seduced by the lower price but will definitely be more likely to book direct next time.

I always assumed it was because I'm old and out of date but I'd definitely never buy a flight from anywhere but direct

Don’t feel bad. Those companies have an obligation to deliver on their promised services. It’s absolute bullshit they get away with this crap. You have every right to be angry and you’re not alone.

Why would you book travel through a pharmacy?

[–] NotJohnSmith@feddit.uk 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Haha. Ah, sorry, not American so never heard of the pharmacy. I meant the hotel consolidator Priceline, they're part of booking.com stable so you'd think they could get their only job right but apparently not

I'm not American either. Priceline is a pharmacy chain in Australia.
