It's both really. Loops is so underused that even Fediverse people still haven't heard of it. It's fair, since the app is still in beta and server code JUST got released. I wish Dan would work on Pixelfed first then improve Loops, cause it's painful rn. I don't even like nor used TikTok though, I just want the Fediverse to do well lol
So is it possible to use Loops??
Use yea, there's both Android and iOS apps now and registration is wide open afaik.
Use with a polished experience.... no lol

As of like yesterday or so, I think Dan dropped an announcement and the alpha version of the server code on GitHub, so yes, technically.
Meanwhile the app is still painful lol
speaking of dansup projects I took a look at the Pixelfed issue tracker recently and ... it doesn't look good. like maybe he should try to focus on one thing at a time

If potential users see this id rather them associate with "PieFed" and "Threadiverse" rather than "Lemmy" and "Lemmy-verse" due to the issues with the Lemmy devs.
Plus its a nice logo.
My main issue with loops is after getting rid of TikTok, I just haven't had a massive need for another short-form video platform. The kind of content I enjoyed on there. The creators won't probably ever be on loops.
I love the Fediverse, but like especially say going from Lemmy to Mastodon, it's a different crowd. I'm glad it exist for people who want it but it's not something I am really interested in.
