We have had so many...

Dahmer. Son of Sam. The Black Dhalia. The Alphabet killer. The Chicago Strangler. And so many more. Some were caught. A lot weren't even ever identified.

Hearing about them finally finding the East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker/Golden State Killer so many years later was insane!

We have this thing called "CumEx" going on in Central Europe. Some criminal bankers literally rob the states of hundreds of billions in tax money, everybody knows about it, but nobody does anything about it. That is Al Capone level of true crime, when the criminals are so powerful that the authorities just look the other way.

Switzerland: The Rupperswil case: A kids football coach turned out to be a crazy pedo... He broke into the house of a kid in his neighbourhood, took the boy, his brother & the gf of the brother hostage. Asked the mom for money. Made her go get all their savings from the bank. When she came back and thought it would be over, he also took the mom hostage and forced them to watch him rape the boy. He later killed them all and burned down the house. He went without being catched for years and everybody though it was the husband.

When the coach was preparing and stalking his next victim, he got catched... If I remember correctly, his google search hiatory gave him away...

The Shankill Butchers is a very infamous one in Northern Ireland, although there are many from the Troubles era.

Their leader became such a loose cannon that details of his whereabouts were supposedly supplied by Loyalist paramilitaries to the IRA so they could take him out, which was pretty crazy since they were opposing sides in the conflict.

Prime minister convicted of embezzling 1.1B in sovereign funds, used Saudi and religious influence to game a general election (he lost), linked to a c4-based murder of a foreign national, wife accused of financial misappropriation and yes, parts of the population still want him to return to power.

Not the Philippines.

The "Chopper" case in Germany, 1981.

Someone/something talked with a ghost-like voice in the middle of a telephone call, or out of a sink or a toilet, and it said very detailed and creative insults, many of them, mostly against a dentist and his young female assistant, and of course all their patients heard it.

People felt terrorized.

It made the news headlines for about 2 years. Ghost experts got involved. It kept the police busy. TV shows etc.

In the end they found that the assistant was doing it. They never really found out the reason why she did it.

What about the Metzgermeister? The case about the cannibal who ate the victim's severed penis along with the victim, and then murdered and ate the guy's flesh. The guy did volunteer to be eaten, to be fair.

[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 1 points 10 months ago

I didn't really believe half of it.

country is pretty vague. I'll answer in my "somewhere where I pass once a month or so" answer.

There was a hair stylist place about ~20-30m from us where my mom actually went once. In-between my parents old school and where we live now. I forgot the full story but the TLDR is that an employee got fired then went insane and murdered her boss in the stylist place then cleaned it so well nobody thought it happened there, but when they turned on a black light there was blood everywhere. I think there was something about sawing a head off too?

I'm missing a TON of details because I was about 10 when it happened, but for me it was creepy AF considering how there's a chance my mom saw the person.

edit: iirc there was an episode of it on a true crime Netflix show

She's been released. I think she lives in QC somewhere, got remarried and maybe even has a kid? Ugh, at least he will spend the rest of his life in jail.

Going back a bit but another young lady, Lizzie Borden

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

Lizzie Borden took an ax
And gave her mother forty whacks,
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.
