Both Superman and Fantastic Four were massively better than I expected them to be. I think both just focused on the fun rather than trying to be more than they were and that helped a ton.

I think both ideas can be true : these films are (probably) slop, and scorsese is a joyless curmudgeon who also enjoyed his fair share of slop back in the day but forgot that he liked it.
I mean, they are not high brow art films by any means, but I wouldn't classify them as slop. They are just fun comic book movies with an emphasis on the fun part. Which to me is the more important part of a comic book movie.
People definitely forget that there's low art that is not slop.

I don't get it
Scorcese made some petty disparaging comments about what is and isn't real art or cinema back when Marvel was at the top of the game with multiple billion dollar movies in a row.
sure but good movies rarely make money
"Good" is a pretty subjective term, especially in this context, but I would agree to the point that the amount of money made is not the best metric of a "good" movie. Anyway, Scorsese is pretty easy to ignore as we all go on with our lives, and I hope he doesn't take away from anyone's enjoyment of whatever movies they want to watch.
Pshh, like I’d let the director of Boxcar Bertha tell me what to watch.
Scorsese is a pretentious prick
but he wasn't wrong.
super hero movies feel cheap and played out these days.
I want original stories with good character development around a relatable plot.
