Can a grenade vaporize another grenade? Or set off another nearly simultaneously?

It depends on the type of grenade, but it'd likely destroy a nearby grenade without detonating it. The explosive mixture in most grenades requires a very high temperature to ignite (provided by the primer), and the blast from a nearby grenade probably wouldn't transfer enough heat to start a second explosion.

I mean are they counting the grenade that exploded? Because kind of hard to find something in 1,000 pieces.

That was the gag that popped into my head reading the headline.

One of the grenades detonated, and the other is unaccounted for

I'm reasonably sure that even pigs can count to attach least two.
