Guilt, likely.
Now, while it still may be a double-edged sword, it's seen as more damaging to the right side.
There's no way the list is only right-wingers. Possibly, throwing the book at one person would mean they squeal on everyone. Maxwell might've considered it but after Epsteins death she probably preferred to stay alive.
Alternative, the files don't actually exist, and the regime lied about it to satisfy the conspiracy loonies. Now it's come back to bite them, and they have nothing to appease their most engaged supporters.
I'm sure some exist with many names on it, like the flight logs, I think the investigation was oversold by the gullible right. The spin occurring now is bc Dear Leader had his name on it, if I had to guess, more times than anyone else, even more than Prince Andrew, whom settled an abuse case in 2022.
