Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

You know what would urge them? Stop supplying the bombs.

[–] Crikeste@lemm.ee 33 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Saw some idiot on Al Jazeera say “stopping weapons transfers really won’t do anything, as the US has given them enough to last years and years.” (they also have domestic production)

Like, he’s right but holy fucking shit, dude.

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 years ago

Big "Putting murderers in prison doesn't stop murders from happening, so there's no point" energy.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Even if they have reserve weapons, they are still reliant of a steady flow of US Military Weapons. If that ends, they are in major trouble. Especially with the Internal unrest in Israel and their reputation on the international stage.

[–] Crikeste@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Absolutely. Of all places to see rhetoric like that, Al Jazeera? Granted, it was just some US Defense dog they were interviewing about the current escalation.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

Netanyahu even approved the bombing of Lebanon's Capital, using US built Bombs and US built Planes, while on US Soil, with the approval of another 8.7 Billion Dollars of Military Weapons to Israel.

Kind of has a Willy Wonka "no, don't, stop" vibe

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Willy Wonka smiled as Harold Hezbollah came from behind the curtain.

"You! You started all this!" shouted Charlie.

"Calm down, Charlie," said Wonka. "He's working for me."

"Yes," said Hezbollah. "If we kill a few innocent people, the war goes on forever, and we get more and more money."

Wonka held Charlie by the shoulders. "Young man," he said, "this fantastical arms factory will be yours as long as you promise to blame everyone else but yourself, and you keep trying to invent more ways to kill innocent people."

Charlie thought about it for a moment. He did love killing innocent people. Frankly, when he blew up that hospital in Gaza it made him happy for as much as a whole minute, a whole minute of pleasure lighting up the dark cavern of his hateful heart.

"Yes!" Wonka screamed, as Charlie plunged the dagger into the defenceless Oompa Loompah's chest [text omitted]

THE END

Urges de-escalation and then gives them literally $8,000,000,000 to continue the genocide.

It's insane that a country whose economy is 1/8th that of California alone and whose population is 35x smaller has the US by the balls in this way.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 years ago (2 children)

For some context, California has the fourth or fifth largest economy in the world when compared to nations.

So seems a bit misleading to compare it to that particular state. Unless you were doing it for effect

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

For sure, though I could use 14 States as examples that are larger. Not even counting all the foreign aid we give to Israel in the first place — it's just absurd we have to kiss their ass so much partly because of AIPAC.

Any country would if they had the US Military Industrial complex backing them up.

[–] WoahWoah@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Between Israel militarily, Russia politically, and China economically, it's a wonder we are still even asked to vote.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 35 points 2 years ago (39 children)

Joe Biden is a disgrace. Empty words from an asshole that is supplying the bombs

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 11 points 2 years ago

Supporting genocide will be Biden’s legacy

I'm beginning to think Biden has a humiliation kink.

[–] bamfic@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Or an Israel fetish, which may have been evident his whole career. No idea why. AIPAC donations? I'm sure someone has analyzed it, I'm just too lazy to look it up

Yes. John Hagee has been a notorious televangelist charlatan for decades and now he has a PAC that targets both wealthy Christians and Jews. Along with AIPAC, CUFI raises enough money to buy genocides.

[–] Resol@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

They're even bigger than AIPAC too.

[–] Themaskofz@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Well then stop paying for it homeslice

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He literally is beholden to the defense contractors. Seems like all they care about is selling bombs, so we're stuck. Israel is our 51st state.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Shit, I'm glad I'm not literally beholden to my own contractor. "You need to build a second floor" "But I don't want a second floor. Can we just go ahead with the bathroom?" "NO! AND YOU'RE GETTING AN ELEVATOR."

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 3 points 2 years ago
[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 2 years ago

"Anyways here's another $2bil"

[–] Hugin@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If only he had some way of reducing the amount of bombing.

[–] pachrist@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, but what if someone also set a precedent that if you're the victim of an admittedly awful terror attack, you can spend the next 20 years killing anyone you want.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

"Quit it you guys, I'm super cereal this time, you've got to cut it out."

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

At least station some US troops there or something
