Why wouldn't China just cut a deal with Iran for access the way they did with the Houthis? It turns out you can cut deals with people when you aren't bombing them or supplying arms to the people who are bombing them.

The only real threat that the US has, is to use their bases in the region and their navy to also close the strait for the other ships. This would lead to a direct confrontation with China and the other countries Iran exports Oil to.
The US could also use its navy to cordon through every western bound tanker, but as we saw in the Red Sea this cannot be done with just a few ships. The US would need to move huge naval assets to the strait. This would lead to the US wasting huge amounts of resources to maintain the status quo, while also being unable to project power in regions like East Asia, where China could use the vacuum to ramp up their dominance.
Or well, the US could commit fully to a ground invasion in Iran to force regime change, subsequently ruining itself and making Vietnam look like a walk in the park in comparison.
The reality is that Netanyahu successfully trapped the US in West Asia which is disastrous for American geopolitics. Ukraine and Taiwan could suffer grave consequences, but this is what Netanyahu wants. By causing trouble, the "oldest child" forces the "parents" to pay all their attention to it, instead of the "younger siblings".
US attacks Iran
China condemns it
Iran threatens to close major oil route
US asks China to help prevent the closure
We Americans look like bigger assholes every fucking day.
For everyone wondering if this administration can sink lower;
The answer is always yes.
"I encourage the Chinese government in Beijing to call them [Iran] about that, because they heavily depend on the Straits of Hormuz for their oil," Rubio had said in an interview with Fox News on Sunday. "If they [close the Straits]... it will be economic suicide for them. And we retain options to deal with that, but other countries should be looking at that as well. It would hurt other countries' economies a lot worse than ours." Around 20% of the world's oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz, with major oil and gas producers in the Middle East using the waterway to transport energy from the region. Any attempt to disrupt operations in the Strait could send global oil prices skyrocketing. Oil prices jumped briefly when trading began on Monday, with Brent climbing to $81.40 a barrel. However, it then slid back to around $78, up 1.4% on the day.
"We made a huge mess, you clean it up."
China will just create an agreement to allow their business to travel. Everyone else can go around.
The US is a joke and all the world is laughing at us.
"C'mon, China, there's still plenty of room for more dicks in this hornet nest!"
the American government really are assholes
Well, to be fair they’re also outrageously incompetent.
China ... Wut?
Close it. This insanity needs to have a high price. Take gas to $10 a gallon.
