When I see fucked up English in a post, I'm split between assuming they don't use English as their primary language or that they're just fellow Americans.

I love this. I recently had someone from Indonesia apologize for their English which, as often is the case was fantastic. I always tell people like that, I know one language, and you know more than one, never apologize for that.

Most of the time I'd never have known they weren't native English writers if they didn't say so.

The coolest thing about Indonesian is that if that person can speak English, it's possible that they can speak three or more languages, as Indonesian people usually speak Bahasa Indonesia and their local language

Her native tongue was a smaller Chinese dialect. So, yeah she knew 3 or more languages. I think there was a 4th, but I'm forgetting what it was. Probably is Bahasa like you mention.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say the OP speaks English because that's the language the knowledge is stored in?

[–] RockAndGnome@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Language is stored in the balls

Isn't most knowledge these days stored in ones and zeros?
