Not just Harvey Milk. Several other names are on there, like Harriet fucking Tubman.
Harriet Tubman was more of a warrior than he could ever be.
Hegseth is a news anchor who literally commisioned his personal lawyer as a Navy Officer. He wouldn't know what a warrior looked like if one punched him in the face for being a christofascist fuck. He wrote a book called American Crusade and is ripping down Harvey Milk's name specifically during Pride Month, quote, "on purpose."
Remember, everyone. It was never about transgender athletes, it was never going to stop with oppressing transgender people, it was always complete and utter bigotry and fascism all the way down.
Didn't he have a make-up studio added to the Pentagon? He's a wannabe drag queen just like his boss.
We don't want a warrior culture. That's dumb fashy shit. We want a culture where every time soldiers are sent to war, it's seen as a failure of leadership that it got to this point.

essentially, if you have an enemy, and can work things out democratically, or in other non violent ways, then you win. if you cannot do that, you have failed, and have to wage a traditional war, which is costly to both sides. and thus should be avoided.
Asimov also had this concept baked into the foundation series. "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent".

Renaming a ship is really bad luck, IIRC. And sailors are hilariously superstitious. So if they rename it after some conservative anti-gay asshat (narrator: they will) that the ship is going to be the most despised ship in the fleet.

Yea but I also have a job, and a wife and dog that would suffer if I martyred myself, even if I only wound up in prison. I think a lot of people look at the situation and see the same hopelessness, and can only hope for it not to get worse, because chances are if we do nothing, we won't lose everything, but not the same if we do choose to do something.

I agree, but I don't have a better answer. I empathize like hell with my queer friends, I understand the fear, but what am I going to accomplish alone with a rifle and how likely is it that a legitimate militia could be established before being wiped out, and how would it even be organized?
I think it has to start with the military. I think if a large enough chunk of soldiers and materiel defected, enough for a fighting chance, that civilians would join in droves. But I don't really know, that's just what I've come to think.
