Oh cool, telegram finally made it very clear that they are compromised at a fundamental level.

Guess it's signal forever then.

Well, I guess I'll be disabling my Telegram account finally. The only thing left that I was doing on it was automatic notifications from the services on my home NAS. Not sure what I'll do instead. Maybe Matrix?

Signal or XMPP not an option?

Not many services support those for notifications in my experience.

Unfortunately telegram bot API is very good.

If you're alright with a one-off fee there's always Pushover. I'd been using it for notifications like this. There's also Discord, if need be just create a server for you and the bot.

Discord is allegedly going for an IPO this year.

How did you hook those things up using Telegram?

AI is bad enough, Musks AI is even worse

To delete your account you will need Telegram on your phone to receive the confirmation code (not SMS)

Delete account: https://my.telegram.org/auth

Any way to export data/conversations before deletion?

[–] subterfuge@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

From the Telegram blog: Chat Export Tool, Better Notifications and More

I think you need to install Telegram Desktop to do this.

Alright, cool, thanks. I have it installed so I'll do this before deleting everything Telegram-related. 👍

The white genocide AI is quite literally the last thing I would ever want on my devices.
