  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I will say, it's important to recognize that some people will not allow a discussion, instead insisting on a fight of words where no ideas can be actually exchanged. Recognizing when something is and is not a discussion is important, as all manner of fascists, tankies, and general assholes will never hold one in good faith.

ive.... ive had such an interaction recently... where i like - rlli tried to hav a discussion, bt realized that the other person was like - litrlli like - tryin to invalidate evri argument like... woag....

it rlli felt like they were like - nt there to discuss, bt to make us (me n som other peep) think whad they thought...

alsuu, they were like - vrri vague, n when we asked for clarification, they went like "u r nt seriously askin, right?" n didn answer the question... ;(

Plain HTML is best. The web would be so much better and faster if most of it was just HTML and CSS. Scripts are a net negative to the web in my experience.

Music theory fun fact, outside of Germany, the note H does not exist. It's weird I don't know we manage with one less note, but somehow we do!

it seems a little weird but I guess the exact placement of letters isn't really all that impactful when you aren't in c major anyways (where the alphabet would correspond to a scale)

It's just germany and scandinavia apparently. Not sure exactly why but B-flat and B-Natural are written as B and H. I've heard many explanations that are all a bit different. Something to do with music history. They just have different names.

I kinddd of didn't notice the questions when I wrote that other comment. Here goes!

I had a very rare beef roast last night. It was the perfect thing for a family get together. Also red wine.

I want to bake a cake. I'm wanting a light vanilla chiffon cake with strawberries. I have all the ingredients I simply lack the motivation. I'll make a wellington some day when the ocassion calls for it.

Right now I'm not hungry. I'm just laying in bed working up the courage to get up and stop doomscrooling and/or cutescrolling as the case may be. Will have a glass of water and an E pill soon™.

I'm knitting a pretty pretty sundress. I want to get back to that. It's occupying most of my thoughts right now.

I'm already grown up. So... I guess retired? I did get the career I wanted, but success didn't make me happy.

I don't really want to be known. Modern society puts way too much emphasis on notable people. Trying to be known for things is a recipe for disappointment, as most people are unnotable. With time I've learned that any desire to be famous or notable was societal peer pressure, and I'm much happier doing my thing quietly.

Trans people are most important.

I don't care many things. Trying to list them would take more mental effort than they deserve, because I genuinely don't care.

I care about quiet. I live in the loudest country with loud people, a country that builds the loudest possible infrastructure. Every business and public place will have a sound system playing music constantly. Every restaurant has hard surfaces everywhere with no sound dampening because loud sounds busy. Quiet spaces are the most pleasant thing.

Is this a gay sex pun? Can't I just say "gay sex"? I'll just go and say gay sex.

I'll cook some tuna salad and some kind of pasta ham dish tonight for the family. Cooking two meals for everyone to be happy and to get some varied leftovers for subsequent lunches.

I'm trying to not actually care about being known for anything in my life. I just wanna live it, no minmaxing.

I don't care about driving and everyone/everything is trying to make me feel bad about it.

I want repairable things but nobody seems to care.

This picture is wonderful, especially the 3rd to last point. If I find myself feeling upset/disagreeing with someone, I try to imagine myself in their shoes, and/or assume that I'm either misunderstanding or being misunderstood, which can be calmly resolved.

I have not eaten breakfast today but will probably have malt-o-meal which is a wheat breakfast like grits, I love it because I am particular about food textures, can't stand the feel of soft/soupy things so I like to make mine extra thicc and add brown sugar+cinnamon+pecans. Later today I will start a large meal prep of some marinated tofu, i got all my favorite ingredients (mirin, fresh ginger+garlic, hoisin sauce) so I'm pretty excited for that :)

I want to be a cybersecurity analyst focused on AI because I think it's massively dangerous in all the obvious ways, but new threat vectors are constantly evolving, and too many people are being hurt (one is too many). I want to stop AI from hurting more people, and there's no realistic way to close Pandora's Box.

That segues well into the next thing because I would like to be known someday for my fight against AI. I will fight until the technology is globally regulated enough to keep humanity safe, as long as I live. I think my words could maybe inspire people if I wasn't so hopelessly awkward irl. I consider myself to be well-spoken but only with individuals or small groups, and only as a result of having extrrrrrrrreme anxiety relating to being misunderstood lmao

I think the most important thing is empathy and seeing other humans as a reflection of one's self. We are all waves from the same ocean; rising, cresting, crashing. Hurt people hurt people, and when I see someone acting in a way I find distasteful I try to remember to ask myself what could make me act like that, and if I come up with "nothing" then I have to think harder (I made a comment a little while ago calling someone a sociopath because their comment was upsetting, but using that word myself made me feel bad so every once in a while I go to their profile and leave upvotes on nice things they said because I feel a need to see the good in people). Sometimes people experience trauma that leads them to have a warped worldview, and we are all walking our own path.

I don't really care about celebrities and that culture of award shows and such. I have many favorites when it comes to different forms of art, and yes some are popular to a degree but most of them are unrecognized by such organizations. It's just a popularity contest, and I decided as a kid that popularity has near-zero bearing on how I experience quality in the context of art. My youtube algorithm regularly serves me recommendations of new channels with less than 10k subs, which I find to be the sweet spot for finding a channel to watch grow. There's something incredibly satisfying to me about watching someone's art and technique grow and evolve as the years pass.

I really care about empathy and love, and I'm getting the feeling that's pretty unpopular these days, more so than people think. Even people who are outwardly full of love can sometimes have so much hate inside when I don't expect it. Not hate for me, hate for others, but hate all the same... It's scary and v uncomf for me and I just want everyone to try to understand each other more. That's why I'm replying in the first place because I love the vibe your post puts out. Thank you for being your inspiring self smorty <3

A mid point between pancake and crepe sounds delicious and I'm going to look that up now, I've never heard of a pfannkuchen. I love making new (to me) foods :)
