I really like it. But I keep opting for Lemmy because of Voyager. It's just too convenient. Piefed's mobile UI is okay though. I could get used to it.

But, I don't want to settle on piefed.social. I usually avoid the big main instances. Thinking about selfhosting it, but haven't decided on a hoster yet.

I dont mind using the flagship instance as the project is small and the admin is pretty cool!

Also, if a large Lemmy instance would switch to Piefed (e.g. LW), they would become the biggest instance

Dubvee is the test tube for the migration process.

Hats off to you @ptz@dubvee.org

Ah, I wasn't aware.

@skavau@lemm.ee FYI

Is this project hinging on one person, like kbin (or mbin? I get them mixed up. ) did? I liked that project, but am glad I didn't make the switch, because it was gone maybe a year later.

I already looked into other instances, but so far none satisfy my criteria: EU hosted, open to registration, admins that I know/trust. That's why I'm thinking about self hosting.

Can somebody explain the difference and if I can follow Lemmy-communities from a PieFed instance?

Edit: 🤦‍♂️ Never mind, after finding very little before commenting I immediately found it after. https://join.piefed.social/features/

It's refreshing

Enjoy the flairs, consolidated comments, categories, truly private votes and flairs.

[–] noodlejetski@piefed.social 5 points 8 months ago (2 children)

"consolidated comments" as in viewing all comments at once under a link that's been posted in multiple communities, or something completely different?

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I mean the former. It makes it really easy to see all the comments.

[–] noodlejetski@piefed.social 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

yeah, I've just seen that in the wild. pretty nifty.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I forgot to mention Piefed also supports polls!

[–] squirrel@piefed.social 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Nice. I didn't know that. Do we have a polls community yet? That's a feature I've been missing ever since leaving Reddit for Lemmy.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 8 months ago

I don't know about any specific communities, but there is a hashtag #poll.

[–] Blaze@piefed.social 6 points 8 months ago

Example here: https://piefed.social/post/782089

Go to the bottom to see the comments from the crosspost to another community

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 6 points 8 months ago

Does it support viewing and commenting on other fediverse systems like peertube, pixelfed, and mastodon?

[–] mesamunefire@piefed.social 4 points 8 months ago

My biggest change is creating a new post. I'm so used to that button being on the front page.
