Trump is so honest and fair he gave up his measly 200k presidential wage, a little gift every now and then just to get some food on the table isn't so bad? How is he supposed to feed his family without any income.
Gee, what a good guy...

Sure corruption, he's also incredibly stupid as i'd bet every conversation he'll ever have on that plane will be translated and broadcast realtime into 3 different languages. Its really funny to me just how stupid of a security concern that it would be. They'll know where he is, what he thinks, when he goes to the bathroom.
They could even put in a "drop out of the sky" button for themselves if they stop liking him. "Oh but its Boeing" as if a foreign nation cares about that in the least.
It'll bugged, tracked, sabotaged, and most of all, not safe to set a single foot on. If I was in the press pool, I'd quit following him when he gets it. There's reasons the air force handles everything start to finish.
Perfectly legal under the "whatthefuckareyougonnadoaboutit" clause. Under this clause, anything is legal as long as nobody does anything about it, which is exactly what everyone is going to do.
I heard the Democrats are planning a pretty mean interpretive dance in retallion.
I mean hey, his friends at the Supreme Court, accepters of transportation-themed bribes, may have to rule on the subject. I'm sure they will do their jobs just as they have been.
Pretty much. Just let another country actively spy on the entire presidency, sacrifice national security, and no one will do a damn thing about it.
is expected to serve as Air Force One
The security implications of this are mind blowing.
Exactly! It's going to be a flying wiretap with every enemy of the US scrambling to get their electronics in before Qatar closes the deal with Trump. I wouldn't be surprised if there were eavesdropping circuits baked into the silicon of every system in the plane.
What a fucking nightmare - but on brand for this kleptocracy of an administration.
To be fair, the Air Force will be stripping it down as they modify it for the needs of the office. But all it takes is one thing missed to be a huge problem. This just isn't a great idea at all, but they knew he'd jump at it because hey, free plane that he gets to keep.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the Qatari (Quatarans?Quasars?) know that and will make sure that something without which it can't function at all or something that the Mango Mussolini will insist on keeping (like a dedicated Truth Social console or a direct line to other dictators, for example) includes surveillance equipment and/or software.
It's not like they're going to be able to force him not to use it any more than they could force him not to tweet from an unsecured phone in the oval office and the presidential bedroom..
Yea right, not when the cheeto in chief orders it put into service immediately
the Constitution's foreign emoluments clause, Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, which states: "And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State."
And he's turning it into fucking airforce one !
That's batshit.
Lately I have had fun with pointing out the holes in the constitution which under normal circumstances would not be an issue as it is understood what was meant. But with trump and the current SC these holes should be obvious on how these will work out just fine for trump.
"without the Consent of the Congress"
There, that is how it will be fine and dandy and he will get away with it. The senate will approve and if this gets challenged and put in front of the SC, you can bet they will point to this quoted part to give it a stamp of approval.
There should be a clause stating that if the president fails to comply, he will automatically be removed from office, his executive orders will be revoked, the vice president, the cabinet, and congressmen who support the president's idea will be dismissed.
After preparing a special election for the population to choose a new president and congressmen,
How would that be any diffident if it's just not followed though?
Just the latest in an ever-growing string of obviously corrupt acts involving this obviously corrupt politician.
In less than a year, the US has gone from a nation that at least punished the most egregious corruption to a nation in which the highest elected office in the land is held by the most brazenly and openly corrupt politician in modern US history, and nobody is doing a thing about it.
The US is circling the drain.
I wouldn't say no one is doing anything about it. SCOTUS is enabling him. So... there's that
Mm... yeah. I should've stipulated that nobody is doing anything to stop him (or even really to slow him down).
The Supreme Court and virtually the entirety of the Republican party - federal, state and local - are actively aiding and abetting him, which, yeah, does count as doing something.
But apart from the whole Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution, he's going to pay the taxes and duties on it, right? RIGHT?
Does this plane have RPG countermeasures? Asking for a few friends…
He wasn't corrupted before but now surely he is. Right?
I believe the law says this is not allowed, we all know. But I also believe the government can just take it back when he's kicked the fuck out of office, or grounded and put in a hanger when the mid-term wipeout comes.
the government can just take it back when he's kicked the fuck out of office
I wish I was naive enough to still believe that the fascists are going to let that happen.
He'll die in office, no matter how many laws and norms he and his cult have to change or ignore to make it so.
Best we can hope for is that it happens soon.
Thankfully it won't be ready for three years anyways
I suspect he will make sure it is painted in the stupid livery that he wanted the new VC-25B's to have but which was reverted back to the classic style livery by Biden
I'm afraid to ask what his livery looks like
Basically like his personal jet, dark blue on the belly, white on top, thick red stripe down the middle form the nose to the tail.
I imagined worse, like massive amounts of gold colors.
Matching the sky and clouds based on perspective is leagues better than i thought it would be. (And US colors i guess)
Thanks
Yeah it's not horrible, but it's not the iconic presidential blue and white with the polished silver. Also there's a rumor in the aviation world that he wanted to interior done up like his NY apartment.... so there's that.
read the emoluments clause in the US Constitution
What does the Constitution have to do with anything?
true, John Roberts took are if that a while ago
Might as well be written on toilet paper
Why stop now? Corruption? Add it to the pile and demand for people with the actual ability to do something about it do so or…
