If Amazon had any balls, they'd display the cost without tariffs, then the costs with tariffs and use your "I did that" image pointing to the tariffed price.
Hell, every retailer and business should do that.

Except Bezos is in that "i did that" group. That was one of the only campaign promises that Trump was sure to keep, since it was the only way he would be able to afford his tax cuts for himself and his rich buddies like Bezos.

This should be in Leopards ate my face for both Trump and Bezos. Bezos paid good money through the inauguration fund (and probably other channels) and got screwed on the tariffs. Trump thought he had Bezos in the palm of his hand and didn't. LMAO.

I think Bezos long-term plan is to pressure Trump to back down on tariffs, then keep prices high anyway and keep Trump tax cuts.
The oligarchs will infight, but at the end of the day, normal people lose either way.

My fear is that's the plan all along. The tariffs created such a mess that it is nearly impossible to even follow the law and pay exactly as much is required.
It's possible that the idea is the businesses will get exemptions for cooperating with the government.

This is giant leverage that tells the Trump administration "we have big tools at our disposal if you don't make us happy with whatever economic policies we do end up with". He displayed that leverage, it turned into a news story, and behind closed doors, a shift occurred, likely minor, in the ever-evolving power dynamic between the two pricks.

Greed finds a way to get too big. However, it is self-destructive and therefore short-lived. Greed is so selfish, it eats itself alive till there is one last malignant tumor cell standing, and with him ends the entire disease, sometimes only to reappear a few decades later when old memories have faded and the wisdom wasn't fully taught and/or learned. Like a body fights a foreign body, humanity collectively needs to isolate, acknowledge, and curb the evil of greed.
