The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which began 82 years ago today, is now universally hailed as a bold act of Jewish resistance against the Nazis. But at the time, many Poles watched — or cheered — as the ghetto burned. The parallels with Gaza are hard to ignore.

The first thing to catch my attention were the merry-go-rounds, jammed with people. Yes, the carousels were spinning round in the thick clouds of smoke from the tenement houses burning next to them. Few metres away people are being burnt alive, but the show must go on. The crowds, bubbling with excitement, rushed from all corners of the city to watch the burning quarter.

Except that the Ghetto uprising was supported and armed by the polish Home Army.

The comparison with the Gaza genocide strikes me as complete nonsense - the Ghetto's destruction was done by an invading and occupying external force, not by the country's own army with the full support of the citizens.

Even if many poles were anti-semitic or simply indifferent, there was an active resistance movent to the nazis organized by both poles and jews. This is nothing like the situation in israel.

If you read the article, you will find that the author is addressing both similarities and differences.

You will find the author speaking about support for the resistance and collaboration with the Nazis. Finally you will find the author mention how mentioning the collaboration of some Polish people with the Nazis is not only taboo in Poland but was even criminalized.

the Ghetto's destruction was done by an invading and occupying external force, not by the country's own army with the full support of the citizens.

The destruction of Gaza and the genocide of the Palestinians are also committed by an invading and occupying external force, the colonial entity called Israel. Or are you suggesting that it is committed by Palestinians?

There are clear parallelism between both, at least in my opinion.
