I’m having trouble installing v1.0.19 on Tails. This is the command I’m using. Can anyone figure out what I’m doing wrong? It keeps saying “Failed to download Haveno binary”.

If anyone having this same problem finds their way here, this is the script to upgrade to Haveno Retoswap v. 1.1.0. Run it in regular Terminal, not Root Terminal right next to amnesia@amnesia:~$

It takes about 10 min to install and the Terminal looks like it's frozen during the install but it's not. Here's the script:

The best place is to raise a github issue. I think I read somewhere that the script needs updating because something has changed. May Just have to wait for an update for tails.

Yeah, I'm surprised that monerobull hasn't chimed in on this yet with the way he supports it so much. Retoswap shouldn't make it mandatory to upgrade in order to trade until all bases are covered, i.e. Tails users.

Haveno already runs on tor, imo it's a bit strange to want to run it on Tails, which isn't designed for that kind of usage. If you are already going to be schizo, at least go all out and do a proper Qubes setup. Nobody can tell me that they NEED to run it on tails when they are incapable of just figuring out how the script needs to be adjusted (bcs let's be honest, most likely all you have to do is swap out 1 version number in the script). I'd assume that you don't want to run it on tails because you actually know how you'd benefit from it, instead I'd think you just heard tails is "the safest option" and because it is "the safest option", you assume that it has priority over literally anything else. That's why, in my opinion, Tails support is and should not be a deal-breaker priority.

xmr_unlimited said "you also have users that need their spoons to be spoon fed" and imo those guys should stick to an OS that is designed for it. If you don't know what you're doing, you are more likely to fuck up trying to run Havneo on tails vs just running it on Ubuntu. Sure, ideally all releases are well-tested and issue-free on all platforms but getting annoyed that the custom install solution isn't instantly available after an update ain't it (and "calling out" others to comment on that ain't it either).

Edit: Sorry, didn't see you already pinged me about this 4 days ago but I missed it. In that case the "calling out" is not an issue.

I come here looking for help with the script and this is your response? Maybe this is why no one ever posts here. Newsflash you arrogant ass: there are lots of Tails users having trouble with v.1.0.19 right now because the github file has changed from deb.zip to an installer file. Changing out the version number in the sudo command has worked for me up until now but no longer. I've I've been using Tails for 8 years, do not like Qubes, and your disrespectful assumptions about me being some kind of schizo moron who needs to be spoonfed aren't appreciated. If you think it's strange to want to use Retoswap on Tails, you obviously know nothing about true Opsec. Nevermind, sorry I asked for help. Until now I thought you were a helpful and useful member of the Monero community. I'll just switch to openmonero.co and XMRglobal. And I'll say it again. If you want adoption of Retoswap by more than just a few, Retoswap shouldn’t make it mandatory to upgrade in order to trade until all of us in the privacy community are covered.

Try not to take things too personally. Tails devs explicitly said they were making it for regular people (activists, journalists, domestic violence victims, etc.) and mainly not for advanced users. So by design it's a normie-friendly OS (a user is not even expected to know how to use pgp); as such, one might generally assume its users may not be "geeks". Nothing personal there.

While asking questions and exchanging ideas are wonderful, one can also enjoy the freedom to study (one of the four essential freedoms), guessing, narrowing down a problem by trial and error. An attempt at solving the problem on one's own is often of great value, a great way to learn, even if it's unsuccessful; after that, one might be able to ask an even better question, which could be helpful for more people too. Either way, I think that most Monero users can happily agree with each other that we want a better version of bisq :) (Sorry if this comment is uncalled for.)

Maybe this is why no one ever posts here.

Yeah, and the blocks of Tor and VPN by Reddit are even worse. I HATE Reddit with a passion (censorship, bots, using our posts to train their AI and sell it to Google and now CQS which punishes you even for connecting in a non-AML/KYC way ) and wish the entire community would just migrate here or somewhere else. Too bad the Tor DDOS issue here can't be solved.
