Making him look silly honestly. Gotta be smarter than that if you want to be WDC.

[โ€“] hagelslager@feddit.nl 17 points 1 year ago

Sheesh Lando, falling to the same trick twice in under 90 seconds.

[โ€“] GreenEngineering3475@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Lets go, both Williams in points.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I am in this picture and i love it.

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

And Hadjar again too!

[โ€“] _ed@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

Stoked for the team, they're having a good run.

[โ€“] GreenEngineering3475@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's how you clear a 7-time world champion Lando.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 15 points 1 year ago

Absolute madman to pull an overtake there. Piastri is the real deal.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The classic go off track turn one to keep position manoeuvre by Max there. F2 was full of it as well.

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

While I agree he should have given it back, Piastri also either steered into him/lost control and went deep into the corner further than a normal racing line. So curious what the stewards would think.

Edit: 5 penalty seconds for this, if you think it's penalty worthy, remains stupid. It should always be at least 10.

I agree with the stewards here that it's on Max. Though he will happily keep track position and try to make a gap. This is a classic Max move, one of his signatures tbh. Wasn't it Mexico last year as well for example? Really kind of tired of this stuff from him honestly.

EDIT: I completely agree about the penalty though and I thought they already said they were going to use 10 sec as the baseline just for the reason that 5 is so often worth it.

Bwoah

Welcome back Kimi Raikkonen.

Leclerc out here driving a medium like a hard tyre.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 5 points 1 year ago

There is no deg here, only overheating it seems. Could have possibly gone M-S honestly seeing as he was in clear air.

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Great overtake by Leclerc, bad way direction showed it live. It basically didn't even show the actual overtake. They had to do a damn replay for it.

[โ€“] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Did we miss the incident with Lawson and Doohan? No way is what we saw on screen 2x as bad as Piastri and Verstappen

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can't remember seeing it, but I must admit to spending time here too when it looks slow because I am happy other people on Lemmy also like F1.

[โ€“] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We saw an overtake where the car that overtook went maybe a tyre's width over the white line. I wasn't even sure they'd went off the track from the camera angle we had. That's why I'm wondering if it was another incident the next lap maybe

Classic FIA inconsistency.

C'mon Leclerc, don't let Norris past after that fantastic stint earlier!

[โ€“] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 1 year ago

Nice, well-deserved third :)

"That was Gabi, he might not have a manager tonight anymore" - Piastri on the Bortoleto-Alonso situation ๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 5 points 1 year ago

I thought he said "flight home?" I assume he meant Gabi is using Fernando's private jet.

"Cya nerds" ~ Max Verstappen

[โ€“] GreenEngineering3475@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Sainz smooth operating for Williams right now

Well that was a quick safety car.

[โ€“] frank@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 year ago

Well they didn't completely fuck up the national anthem so that's nice

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 1 year ago (3 children)

So who do we think is causing the inevitable safety car/red flag? Any bets?

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Verstappen and Piastri, leaving Norris to win after a luck safety car caused by a Stroll crash. (Crazy predictions cost nothing!)

Edit: Norris starting on hards makes me believe they're on Lemmy too!

[โ€“] Mateoto@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Stroll my man never disappoints ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] koella@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Tsunoda getting a bit overconfident, maybe? Hope it won't be him, though.

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Ding ding ding! (Doesn't look likes it's his fault but still involved)

[โ€“] Microw@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

I wonder if this is the first time Gasly and Tsunoda have ever collided, given their teammate history

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 1 year ago

Piastri going for an undercut seems super sketchy. They need to find clean air for him and this puts him in traffic no? Even without the slow stop. I feel like possibly the overcut would have been better today?

[โ€“] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What's Red Bull's game here? I think they lost 2-3 seconds to Piastri already by pitting late

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Probably expecting Hamilton to box a lap earlier.
